“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life!”

Welcome to The Vegetarian Treehouse. The name of this blog is a tribute to our flat in London and all the culinary inspiration it brought to me. When I initially started blogging I had no intention for it to amount to much, I was just doing it to keep myself busy while preparing to move to Doha. Now it has made me realise where my true passion lies and I have manifested this passion into a living.

My discovery of plant based food started four years ago. I was suffering from liver damage, caused mainly by prescription medication. That’s when I decided to take my health into my own hands and embark on this beautiful journey of health and wellness. I managed to get my liver back in good shape after a year of intense cleansing and eating plant based foods.

My obsession with ensuring I was fuelling my body with pure goodness led me to study Plant Based Nutrition at Cornell University. Since then I have co-authored a cookbook to help people with food allergies “What’s Left To Eat?. I have a catering business providing natural, whole, plant-based foods in Doha, Qatar. I also work as a chef on yoga retreats, where I prepare nutrient rich meals with local, seasonal produce, and run healthy cooking workshops.

I want to spread the knowledge I have gained in order to cultivate awareness around the benefits of eating delicious and nourishing plant based foods. I believe that if we have the right tools, we can empower ourselves to both heal, and reconnect with our bodies.

So, I hope you enjoy the recipes I put up and please feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have by either posting a comment or emailing me vegetariantreehouse[at]gmail[dot]com

Happy cooking!

  1. Hello,
I need the Almond butter, but dont know from where i can get it. Can you please tell me from where i can buy that?

    • Hi! You can find the American tempeh at Spinney or Megamart but I personally didn’t like the brand. There was also an Indonesian lady at the MIA Bazaar last year selling it. She said that she got it from an Indonesian supermarket near the Old Airport, I haven’t had the chance to go there yet but I hope you can find some! 🙂

      • Hi!! I have been to spinneys (pearl) and megamart a few times but to no avail. 😢 then we found some at an Indonesian shop close to… Wakra (? Still figuring out name of neighborhoods) so we must me talking about the same place. I am a neophyte but it was very good according to my daughter who just came back from Indonesia where she ate it daily!
